Ethics policy
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is supremely important. Your document will not be shown to or discussed with any person not directly involved in the contracted work. If you send me a document for a quote and do not subsequently contract me, I will delete all copies of the article immediately.
Privacy
To carry on business, it is necessary for me to hold certain information about you, such as contact details. I will not sell or disclose your mailing address, email address, or any other information collected from our business transactions.
Quality of work
I aim to produce high quality work that meets your needs within the contracted service. In any case where I do not believe I can provide work of an appropriate standard, I will not accept the contract.
If the completed work is not of suitable quality, I will immediately rectify this.
Suitability of service
If I do not believe you will benefit from the requested service (e.g. you ask for Budget editing of a very poorly written text), I will not accept the contract.
Conflict of interest
If I become aware of any potential conflict of interest, I will advise you of this before accepting the contract, or as soon as I become aware of the potential conflict.
Student work
I will only edit student work according to the policy of the Council of Australian Societies of Editors and the Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies. In practice, this means students cannot request Comprehensive editing service or writing, and must show permission from their supervisor when ordering a service.
Acknowledgement of contribution
In accordance with the policy of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, if you choose the Comprehensive editing service or writing, my contribution should be acknowledged. For the Budget and Standard editing services, acknowledgement is not required (but is appreciated).
